The OSU Student Logging Training Program is a unique opportunity within
the College of Forestry for interested students to gain real-life training
in practical logging skills.
The program is made up of a crew of approximately a half-dozen students who carry out all phases of logging operations primarily on the McDonald-Dunn College Forest, just 15 minutes north of campus. The student-crew utilizes a range of small scale logging equipment including a Koller K300 2 Drum Yarder (powered by a Kubota 6950DT Tractor) and a John Deere 540B Skidder. In addition, students become proficient using powersaws to fall and buck timber. |
