GPS and GIS Applications in Natural Resources

Who Should Attend?

The GPS and GIS course is a one-day event that introduces participants to basic GPS principles and how to maximize the potential of consumer-grade GPS receivers.  Handheld Garmin GPS receivers are examined in detail and are used during a field mapping exercise.  Participants will use data they collected during the field mapping exercise and learn how to import the data into a GIS database.  Data manipulation, geographic referencing, and information extraction are practiced during a series of laboratory exercises so that participants learn to collect and process their own GPS data.  All participants are provided a Garmin GPS receiver for use during the workshop.

See the workshop brochure (brochure link is to the left) for a list of course topics.
