Hypermedia Version of Northwest Forest Plan Version 1.01

The Standards and Guidelines for the Northwest Forest Plan are now available in a Microsoft Windows hypermedia application that can be downloaded from this page.

In addition to the Standards and Guidelines themselves, the application also includes the FEMAT report (which gave rise to the Standards and Guidelines) and the Record of Decision pertaining to the Northwest Forest Plan.

This document contains the instructions used for downloading and installation, and it is important that you follow them step by step.

Instructions after downloading:

1. Copy FORESTEM.EXE to the drive on which you want to install the application.
2. Change to the drive to which you are installing.
3. Type FORESTEM -d \FORESTEM\INSTALL to create the installation files.
4. Start Windows.

Please note in step 3 that "-d" is a parameter that you must supply exactly as typed. This is not a drive reference! There also must be a space after the "d" and before the slash.

Instructions for Installation:

1. From the File menu in the Program Manager, choose RUN.
2. Type \FORESTEM\INSTALL\INSTALL.
3. The program will prompt you for drive and directory information. You may choose the defaults, or set new ones. Please change the default directory to FORESTEM.
4. When the dialogue box asking your if you want to create the "HyperText Documents" group, choose OK or Yes.

When the installation is compete you will have a Hypertext Documents group and the FEMAT Hypertext and The Hypertext on Hypertext icons installed.

You are now ready to enter the FEMAT Hyperdocument.
