Darius Adams

Forest Resources Department, OSU

Darius Adams is Professor and Interim Head of the Department of Forest Resources at Oregon State University. Professor Adams was a member of the OSU faculty from 1975 through 1985 and rejoined OSU in 1996. He has also served on the forestry faculties at the University of Montana, University of Washington, and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Prof. Adams’ primary research interests are in the development of long-range projections of the forest sector at national and regional levels, including studies of markets for forest products, timber harvest levels, private investments in timber management and changes in timber growth and inventory. For nearly 30 years he has been associated with the US Forest Service’s national RPA Timber Assessment program, building the projection models that underpin these studies. In related research, Professor Adams has conducted extensive regional studies of private forest management and timber harvest potential in Oregon, Washington and the U.S. South.

Professor Adams is also a consultant to the USEPA on the costs of sequestering atmospheric carbon in forests. He is a co-developer of the FASOMGHG model, widely used to examine alternative greenhouse gas mitigation policies involving both forest and agricultural sectors.
