Curbside Recycling
You no longer have to sort
your recyclables for curbside pickup. Here is a list of the things to put in
your two red bins:
- Aluminum/tin cans
- Aluminum pie plates
- Foil
- Aerosol cans (no need
to remove lids or flatten cans)
- Cardboard
- Paper bags
- Magazines
- Newspapers
- Household mail (place
in a paper bag next to bin)
- Paperboard (such as cereal
boxes, tissue boxes etc.)
- Plastic bottles and tubs
(no need to remove lids or labels)
- Used motor oil -place
in a plastic jug with tight fitting lid, next to bin.
- Glass containers

Other Recyclables
Corvallis Disposal Co. recycles
other materials, but you must drop them off at certain sites at certain times.
The upcoming Spring Cleanup is this Saturday, April 14th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00
p.m.
- Batteries - drop off at
True Value Hardware on 2001 NW Circle Blvd. or at Robnett's Hardware on 400
SW 2nd (Co-Op takes them too)
- Electronics (Computers,
VCR's, printers, stereo equipment, cell phones, answering machines, scanners
and fax machines) - accepted at the Corvallis Disposal Co. North Lot off of
Belvue (N. of Walnut St.)
- Wood Waste (formed, pressed
or sawn wood) - recycled at Corvallis Disposal Co. 110 NE Walnut Blvd (South
Lot)
- Appliances such as stoves,
refrigerators and water heaters - accepted at Corvallis Disposal Co. North
Lot or Benton Co. Fairgrounds (110 SW 53rd St.)
- Other materials can be
swapped with people in town by posting them on the Corvallis Disposal Co.'s
new swap site.

- Furniture: Benton Furniture
Share accepts useable furniture in decent condition at the cleanups hosted
by CDC. This Saturday, April 14th is the Spring Cleanup. Furniture will be
collected at Highland View Middle School. Check the web
site for future cleanup dates.
Composting
The city will pick up your yard
debris to be composted by the city, or they will provide you with a composter
to compost in your yard. Check out their web
page on this.
They will be hosting a Compost Workshop
on Friday, May 4th. Check the website for registration information.
Household Hazardous Waste
This includes things like paint,
lawn fertilizers, drain openers, pesticides and motor oil. Corvallis Disposal
suggests some alternatives to using these items and tells you how to recycle
them on their web page. Hazardous
waste disposal occurs only on certain days. Until then, store them in a cool,
dry place out of reach of children and pets. The dates for the upcoming months
are: Saturday, May 26th; Saturday, August 11th, and Saturday, November 3rd.
