Everyone's monitor is different, so how well you can see a digital image
depends not only on the quality of the image but also on the quality of
your monitor and video card in your computer. In addition to the monitor,
no matter how many colors an image inherently contains, you will only be able to see the number of colors your video card can display on your monitor. This is directly
related to how much VRAM (Video RAM) or DRAM (Dynamic RAM) you have on your
video card. A great monitor with a poor video card results in a poor image.
Likewise, a poor monitor with a great video card results in a poor image.
Only when you have a great video card and a great monitor will you be able
to view images in true color, that are considered photorealistic. To make
matters even more complex, all of this is related to the resolution at which your
monitor is running. The size of the monitor makes little difference,
it's actually the resolution that matters. Of course the larger the monitor,
the more common it is to run at a higher resolution.
