Interlaced GIFs contain the same information as other GIFs, but
allow browsers to display a low-resolution image that appears immediately and continually redraws
until it reaches its highest resolution. This format was intended to allow users who had a slow
viewer or slow connection (e.g. modem connection) to get a sense of the overall image quickly.
Unfortunately, the total time to display the image is increased and that is one reason that some
webmasters do not like this effect. This is purely personal opinion so you might want to try it for
yourself. Both the 87a and 89a GIFs can be interlaced. GIF89, Adobe Photoshop's new plug-in supports
interleaving as well as transparency.
