Using the Public Folders (Bulletin Boards) in Exchange

Remember to make use of the public folders (rather than mailing lists) for personal informational items such as kittens looking for homes or for discussions you want to have without spamming the CoF mailing lists. Forestry Computing Resources will be happy to add additional folders as needed.

To use the folders:

If you don't have an Exchange account you can use the Public Folders, read and post messages, anonymously from the Web --
  1. Go to: http://webmail.for.orst.edu
  2. Where it says "Public Access" click: Click here
If you do have an Exchange account --
  • From the Web interface, log in then Click Public Folders in the shortcut bar down the lefthand edge of the window
  • From Outlook --
Display the Folder List (If it's not already showing View | Folder List)
At the bottom of the Folder List you'll find Public Folders

Once you've found the Public Folders (no matter your access), you want: All Public Folders, and then click Forestry.

To post a new item from the Web or from Outlook,
  1. Go to the folder where you want to post your item.
  2. Use the icon in the toolbar that looks like a Post-it note with a blue push pin through the corner.
