Emerging cellulose-based technologies offer potential development of materials with a wide range of new properties that have applications in products once considered improbable with biobased
materials (wood, plant, etc.). Cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) are a newly-appreciated class of nanomaterials that offer a unique "building block" on which a new biopolymer composites industry can be
based.
