• Active in local chapter since 1969.
• Organized and chaired a Joint Technical Session at the Annual National Society of American Foresters meeting. Spokane, WA, 1980.
• Selected to organize and lead silviculture tour for national meeting in Portland, 1983 (240 participants).
• Elected chairman of local (Willamette) chapter (largest in the state) for 1984.
• Re-elected chairman of newly-formed Mary's Peak chapter for 1985.
• State Chair Science and Technology Committee, 1988, 1989.
• Leader in organizing "Financing Forest Investments" a one-day workshop, 1989.
• Elected Fellow, 1989

Western Forestry and Conservation Association:

• Member since 1980.
• Chairman of the Oregon-Washington Silvicultural Council and Leader of successful field trips. 1981, 1982, 1984, 1993. Participants each year (50-100).

Served as Reviewer for numerous Oregon Department of Forestry, Forest Practices Rules changes, e.g., Rules for Reforestation and Regulations: Special Wildlife Species.
