Continuing Education Solutions Forest Business

 

Given the current state of the forest industry, all continuing education courses are postponed. I anticipate that courses will resume in 2010.

 

2009 Courses

Forest Products Management Development is a three-day management development course designed for mid-level managers as they climb the corporate ladder. This concentrated management development course is designed to help prepare the next generation of managers for the industry. Accordingly, we strive to expose participants to strategic thinking in areas such as planning, marketing, finance, innovation, etc. Co-developed between the Colleges of Forestry and Business at OSU, this program is tailored to meet the context and needs of forest industry managers.  Sessions are taught by mix of high-level industry managers and OSU faculty. The course is offered on campus in Corvallis, Oregon.

Selling Forest Products is a two-day, sales training course designed primarily for new salespeople and is taught by Bob Smith, a Professor and Extension Specialist in Forest Products Marketing at Virginia Tech. He has more than 15 years experience in the wood products field and 8 years of personal selling experience.

The course is scheduled to be offered on campus in Corvallis, Oregon on April 23-24, 2009.  Some of the topics covered are: Successful Personal Selling Strategies, Effective Phone Sales, Negotiation Skills and many more.
