The following items to be included in all lab write ups beginning with Lab 2.
- Clear presentation in classic scientific format with intro, methods, results, conclusions
- Explicit statement of the scope of inference
- Mathematical description of the model (including distributional assumptions)
- Description of analysis strategy
- Statement and assessment of model assumptions and any remedial action that was taken
- Confidence intervals associated with each estimate
- Test statistic and associated degrees of freedom and p-value for any statistical hypothesis tests that are reported.
- Interpretation of results in biological, not just statistical terms
- A graphical summary of the results (including measures of precision, e.g. C.I )
- Any table or graph in the document should be clearly labeled and be referred to in the text.
- Approximately 20 of the 25 points for each lab are assigned to the lab write up and approximately 5 of the 25 points are assigned to the short answer questions on the lab assignment. The distribution of points for specific items within the lab write up will vary from week to week depending on what we’re emphasizing.
- Additional items may be requested on specific lab assignments.
- Points are removed if you include output that you don’t refer to in the write-up.
