Critique grading (0 = included in class participation points)

Overview

You will grade the critiques that you receive from the other students in the class. Grading a critique of your own work is tricky—you don't have to agree with the critique (no two people agree on everything!), but you should judge whether the reviewer made a good faith effort to provide meaningful and constructive feedback.

Procedure

Use the critique grading form to assign your grade, and then submit the form to the course instructor no more than 1 week after you receive your critique (see the course schedule for that dates you will receive each critique). The percentage grade you assign will be multiplied by the number of points available for the assignment to determine the number of points you recommend for the student (= [your grade in %]/100 x [points available]). The instructors will then use this score to help determine the final grade for each student.

The critique grading you do will be evaluated as part of your class participation requirement.

Objectives and rationale

The objectives of this assignment are to (1) help students understand how to become better reviewers and (2) obtain the information needed to fairly grade the student critiques.
