Use of snags by cavity-nesting birds: ecology and management implications

Your paper should examine use of snags by both primary and secondary cavity nesting birds.  Your paper should examine the influence of snag type (size, decay class, species, etc.) on type and amount of use.  You should explore some of the implications of these habitat relations on conservation of these groups and forest management.   You can restrict your emphasis to nesting, or may include consideration of foraging as well, but in either case the scope of your topical area should be clear.

Your paper should cite the following papers and a minimum of 5 others:

Bull, E. L., and R. S. Holthausen. 1993. Habitat use and management of pileated woodpeckers in northeastern Oregon, USA. Journal of Wildlife Management. 57:335-345.

Mannan, R. W., E. C. Meslow, and H. M. Wight.  1980.  Use of snags by birds in Douglas-fir forests, western Oregon.  Journal of Wildlife Management 44:787-797.
