Distance Education, Computer Technology, and This Course
Although this class makes use of modern technologies to facilitate your learning, it is NOT a distance education course. Regular attendance in the class and participation in extra credit opportunities are essential to optimize your learning and to receive the best grade possible.
In the hopes of helping students with their understanding of the course materials, in the past PowerPoint presentations were made available remotely. Although this served the purpose of helping the better students in the class master the material, unfortunately too many of the students began to consider access to the PowerPoint presentations as an alternative to attendance at lectures. This caused multiple problems and confusions, as the PowerPoint presentations did not capture many of the essential aspects of the topics covered in lecture, resulting in misunderstandings of the course material and misinterpretation of exam questions. As a result PowerPoint presentations will not be made available outside the lectures. The TAC sheets, readings, and other materials provided are intended to be supplementary to the lectures, not replacements for them.
