3. SPOTTED OWL ECOLOGY WITH JOE LINT (BLM WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST and ERIC FORSMAN USFS RESEARCH WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST)

We will visit a nest site of a local pair of northern spotted owls to discuss their ecology, habitat use, and relationships with forest management.

4. DEAD WOOD FIELD TRIP WITH KIM MELLEN (USFS ECOLOGIST) - McDonald-Dunn Forest

Standing and fallen dead wood provides habitat for a tremendous diversity of wildlife species in forest ecosystems, thus represents one of the most important structural components in managed forests. We will visit sites on the McDonald-Dunn Forest near Corvallis to discuss:

This is an all-day optional field trip to Black Rock, where we will discuss wildlife habitat relationships, stand and landscape relationships, and response of wildlife to silvicultural treatments. Transportation will be provided. BRING...your own lunch, water, raingear, binoculars, etc. Also, please wear sturdy footwear.
