Section 10
Prescription
The problem analysis forms the basis for the herbicide prescription which should
include the following:
- Herbicide formulation, dosage, and timing. Information necessary may be obtained
from herbicide label documents (which are legally binding), use of weed control
handbooks, research publications (MOF, CFS, USFS, OSU, etc.) or test plots if there are
little data available germane to the problem to be solved.
- Planned Logistics. To assure that helicopters and herbicides arrive at the site and
the desired data properly equipped and in proper quantities.
- Schedule and Planting. This should include provisions for protection of seedlings
from animals where necessary and slashing of any large dead material.
- Fire. If the use of fire subsequent to chemical treatment is planned, provision
should be made for fuel compaction, desiccation of fuel, and proper timing of ignition.
