Welcome!

Field School is a 3-unit required course for all Recreation Resource Management majors. It is not usually open to other majors. Field School is usually taken between your junior and senior year. It combines physical work with intellectual challenges, requires a one week commitment, and takes place in a setting far from the OSU campus. As a student in this course, your objectives are:

Past activities have included visitor surveys, vegetation restoration, camping facility construction, backcountry clean-up (graffiti, fire rings, etc.), trail-building, interpretive planning, and various inventories of resources and visitor impacts. Most groups have presented both an oral and written report to the cooperating agency at the end of Field School , summarizing their findings, accomplishments, and recommendations.
