Homework 2 

Microsoft Word: Introduction and Formatting

*** This 10-point assignment is due by Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 9:00pm.
         (Points below total 20. Your recorded score will be 50% of your point total.)


Starting with T:\Teach\classes\for112\crater.doc, make the following edits:

1. (1 pt) Remove the only page break in the document.

2. (1 pt) Change the document page layout from portrait to landscape orientation.

3. (2 pts) Set a Hanging Indent at 1/2 inch for the second paragraph, "Crater Lake is widely known..." 

4. (2 pts) Using Copy | Paste functions, make a copy of the first paragraph and place the copy at the end of the document.

5. (2 pts) Center all the subheading titles (In Brief, Park History, Army Road Crew, NPS Government Camp), and set the font for all the titles to bold, underlined, 16-point Arial.

6. (2 pts) Insert page breaks before all of the subheading titles (mentioned above) that you just centered.

7. (2 pts) In the first paragraph of the Park History section, change all the text to Verdana font and right-align the paragraph.

8. (2 pts) Change the line spacing of all the text on the first page to double spacing (Don't just insert returns!).

9. (1 pt) Change every occurrence of the word "In" in the document to "IN".  Be sure you ignore occurrences where "in" is not capitalized or where "in" appears in the midst of another word.

10. (2 pts) Insert a new paragraph at the end of the document describing your favorite place to hike. This paragraph must be at least two sentences long with one sentence beginning, "HIking is one of my favoorite ways to relax." (two caps in HIking and misspell favorite).
The point here is, how do you quickly/easily undo corrections Auto Correct makes for you?

11. (3 pts) Add a new paragraph of text at the top of page 2 setting three tabs for that paragraph only. The tabs should allow you to enter the four lines of text below (starting with the names) without typing any hyphens/underscores. You'll use three different types of tabs that align text in three different ways.
 

Save the changes you've made to this file to a file on your Z: drive (ONID network space). Name the file ONID_ID-hw2.doc (replace ONID_ID with your ONID username). For example, the instructor would name his file altimusm-hw2.doc
