Annual Ring is our new student welcome and orientation day. It is a great opportunity to meet fellow incoming students to the College of Forestry (CoF)! Each year, right before classes start in the fall, the College organizes an informative, entertaining, and fun day to introduce the new students to the College of Forestry family.
This year, Annual Ring will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009. We will meet at 10:00 a.m. in the Hatfield Courtyard and jump on a bus for a tour of the McDonald-Dunn Forest where you will be introduced to the cutting edge research and management that goes on in the forest. Lunch will be provided at the Forestry Club Cabin and you'll have some time to enjoy getting to know fellow students, hiking, biking, or canoeing on Cronemiller Lake. You’ll also be able to try your hand at some of the Logging Sports events. We will return to Peavy Hall by 3:00 p.m.
We suggest that you bring your swimming suit or a change of clothes if you plan to participate in the water-based logging sports or canoeing – many new students have begun their career in forestry by falling in Cronemiller Lake.
New students will be sent information in the mail as the date nears so please keep your eyes on your mailbox in early September. You will be requested to RSVP. Family members are more then welcome because you all are now part of the College of Forestry family.
This is also a great chance to learn about the various student clubs in the College of Forestry.
