Our objective

To help College of Forestry researchers communicate their work, making the results of research broadly available.

What we do

We offer editing, graphic design, and other publishing services to help authors prepare their manuscripts for submission to scientific journals.

We also publish manuscripts under the Forest Research Laboratory imprint, in three peer-reviewed series:

  • Research Contributions are descriptions of recent research that provide more detail than journal publication usually permits.
  • Papers in Forest Policy provide information to legislators, administrators, and other policymakers to help them make policy and management decisions.
  • Case Studies are teaching studies that focus on a single unit, which could be a company, process, or product; each study emphasizes and elucidates a particular concept or principle with real-world data.

The Forestry Communications Group also orders, stores, and distributes journal reprints by College of Forestry authors. About 2000 titles, including both College of Forestry publications and reprints of journals articles, are available from the Forestry Communications Group.

How to submit a manuscript

First, fill out the author's checklist for a journal or author's checklist for an in-house publication and have it signed by your department head. Then fill out the completed checklist of services desired. Finally, please submit both a hard copy and an electronic copy of the manuscript. Bring it or send it to Forestry Communications, 256 Peavy Hall.

Our guidelines for authors of in-house publications can help you prepare your manuscript.
