Quality > Floodplains
and wetlands play an important role both in reducing flooding
in the spring and reducing drought in the summer and fall.
These areas hold water like a reserve tank, giving
overflowing water a place to go. In addition,
they provide valuable habitat for waterfowl and many other
animals and plant species. And, to top it off, wetlands
and floodplains actually help to filter unhealthy and toxic
substances from the water table.
