Although not nearly as renown as the bark, the needles of ponderosa pine are fantastic in their own right. Ponderosa pine needles are born in groups of three (occasionally two or five), and are yellow-green in color. As one might expect, many visitors surrounded by the smells and sounds of ponderosa pine have been persuaded into an afternoon nap by the soft whisper of pine needles swaying in the wind.
