The Starker Program in Private and Family Forestry
- Research

Research relevant to Oregon's private forest sector is the foundation of the Starker Program. In collaboration with scientists from many disciplines and affiliations, Starker Program researchers examine timely questions involving social aspects of private forest ownership and management, forest resource policy, and forest-based rural development. Current research topics include forest ownership patterns and biodiversity, sustainable forestry extension programming, and woodland owner participation in watershed councils.
