Ph.D. in Economics. University of California at Berkeley, Department of Economics. (1993) Fields: Natural Resource and Environmental Economics, Development Economics.

Master of Environmental Studies. Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. (1987) Focus on natural resource economics.

Bachelor of Science. Duke University. (1985) Majors: Geology and Economics.

Research interests: Resource management decisions under uncertainty; public-private land conservation; spatial and rural welfare aspects of (international and domestic) biodiversity conservation; spatial and intertemporal land use management in the face of invasive species; and biodiversity protection through promotion of shade-grown coffee.

Prospective Graduate Students: I am currently accepting graduate students to work on a variety of projects. I am a natural resource economist and typically require my students to develop economics as part of their skill set through coursework and application during research. We offer a PhD in Forest Resources with an Economics concentration and the OSU graduate school offers a degree in Economics that students in this department can achieve if they meet additional requirements.
