Facilites
Two laboratories in the College of Forestry are providing
valuable information to help Oregon and the nation deal with forestry
and natural resource problems. The Environmental Remote Sensing Applications
Laboratory (ERSAL) and the Forest Planning Laboratory (FPL),
both located in the Department of Forest Resources, use remote sensing,
Geographic Information
Systems (GIS), and computerized simulations to analyze the forests and
landscapes of Oregon.
In addition
to their strong research and analysis components, the two laboratories
are involved in the University's education program with courses for
students and professionals. MS and PhD graduate programs, with emphasis
across
the range of remote sensing and GIS, are offered in the Department
of Forest Resources. Both ERSAL and FPL paraticipate in the University-wide
Earth Information Science and Technology (EIST) program for students
and offer continuing education courses for professionals.
