Major in recreation resource management or closely related field.

To gain full-time professional experience under joint sponsorship of university-land-managing agency that might serve as a springboard for career entry.

Objectives

  1. To bring academic preparation in balance with professional experience through meaningful work jointly supervised by agency and university personnel.
  2. To acquire a realistic career orientation by exposure to working professionals in a practical work setting.
  3. To enhance the student's opportunities for future employment with the internship agency and similar organizations.
  4. To provide the opportunity for discovering strengths and weaknesses and ways to achieve improvement where needed.
  5. To gain newknowledge abourt management of recreation resources and have the opportunity to implement it in a practical setting.
  6. To gain a broad perspective on his/her chosen field through exposure to a variety of management situations and personnel within the organization.
  7. To forge links between the university and land-managming agencies which might result in cooperative education, research and work activities.
  8. To provide agencies the opportunity to have input into university curriculum planning and implementation
