Lab News

Luke Pangle is a PhD student at OSU in the Hillslope and Watershed Hydrology Lab. Luke studies the interactions and feedbacks between climate variation, vegetation function, and soil properties and how they influence soil moisture dynamics, groundwater recharge, and stream flow generation.

Jay Frentress, an OSU PhD student, is using IR thermography and biological tracers with geochemical/isotopic signatures and hydrometric data to connect spatial surface saturation patterns to subsurface sources and answer questions related to mixing of streamflow sources in the saturated zone.

The Hillslope and Watershed Hydrology group led by Professor Jeff McDonnell, Distinguished Professor of Hydrology (adjunct). Our group conducts field, lab and modeling investigations that center on the following questions:

- Where does water go when it rains?
- How long does it reside in the watershed?
- What pathway does it take to the stream channel?

Jeff McDonnell has now moved to the Global Institute for Water Security at the University of Saskatchewan. Students and Post-Docs interested in working with the group should contact him at
