Social Events

The International Mountain Logging and Pacific Northwest Skyline Symposium provides and excellent venue for networking. There will be a diverse mixture of participants including forest resource managers from the private and public sector, woodland forest landowners, harvesting planners and assessment monitors , logging managers and contractors, machine manufacturers and distributors, consultants, researchers & teachers from universities and other education organizations, industry trade organizations and others.

The symposium program will provide ample time to interact with old friends and new acquaintances during the technical session break periods, lunch periods, facilitated discussion sessions with keynote speakers, and conference workshops. Additional planned social events include the following:

Monday, April 2: Meet and greet opening reception at the Hilton Garden Inn
University Club

Tuesday, April 3: Evening poster session and vendor forum

Wednesday, April 4: Evening banquet and entertainment


Other optional events that will combine technical content, field forest harvesting demonstrations and social activities include the following:

Sunday, April 1: Oregon coast range and OSU College Forest field trip

Tuesday, April 3: A choice of a forest harvesting operations tour in either
the Oregon coast mountain range or Cascade mountain range

Thursday & Friday, April 5 – 6: Field tour from Corvallis to the Roseburg Oregon
area in the Cascade Mountains to meet with
researchers and view the Hinkle Creek Paired
Watershed Study

A separate accompanied persons program is described below. Accompanied persons are also invited to register and participate in the symposium events. There are also a wide range of recreational activities and other opportunities in and around Oregon State University and the Corvallis area. Please see the Conference Venue.

Wednesday, April 4
OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center, Lunch & Shopping Historic Newport Bay Waterfront
Catch a wave as you depart Corvallis and head for the Oregon Coast. This scenic tour includes a stop at OSU's Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport - Oregon where you will learn how OSU researchers are saving our coastlines, discovering ocean ecosystems, and making international news in wave research. After lunch spend the afternoon sightseeing and shopping along the historic Newport Bay Waterfront.
Tour includes round-trip charter transportation, Science Center admission and lunch.

Tuesday, April 3
Evergreen Aviation Museum Tour, Lunch & Eola Hills Winery Visit
Home of the famous Howard Hughes Flying Boat better known as the “Spruce Goose,” the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Oregon currently displays over 50 aircrafts from various eras. Enjoy lunch at the Museum Cafe before getting back on the Oregon Coachway charter bus to visit the Eola Hills Winery in Rickreal, Oregon where you will take a winery tour, tasting, and have the opportunity to purchase award-winning Oregon grown wines.

Tour includes round-trip charter transportation, museum admission, lunch, winery tour and tasting.
