In addition to the conference and exhibition at Woodfor Africa 2002 which takes place from 2 – 6 July this year we have arranged 2 pre tours and 1 post tour for the interested visitor or group of delegates.  We aim to entertain you and show you as much of our beautiful country as possible so please make an allowance of a few days before or after the event – it will be well worth it. You can either choose to visit the most famous game reserve in the World – Kruger Park or alternatively if time does not allow take in one of the local wild animal reserves in KwaZulu Natal.

If on the other hand if you are on a tight schedule and can only spare time for the Conference and Exhibition we have arranged daily tours leading from the Expo venue for your spouse of friend accompanying you who are not involved with Woodfor Africa or any one who wishes to spend a day away from it all absorbing the incredible sights we have on offer close by.

For a quick taste of what you get:

Escarpment and Kruger Park Tour: Overnight stay in Johannesburg and depart on day 2 for Blyde River Canyon in the Eastern Transvaal. Famous for Bourkes Luck Potholes and panoramic route over the escarpment. Day 3 head for Kruger Park with 50 km of superb game viewing through the park. Day 3 and Day 4 are  spent in the Park in camp accommodation.  Night drives to view the game in open vehicles. Day 5 return to Johannesburg.

Zululand Safari : First night is spent in beach accommodation with a half day tour of the city’s sites. Day 2 depart for Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park up the KZN coastline. Famous for black and white rhino and 2 days in the reserve.  Day 4 depart en route to a traditional Zulu village and sumptuous lunch before making your way to Pietermaritzburg by bus.

Zululuand and Kruger Park Tour : This post tour takes place after the Conference from 5 to 10 July and drops you off at Johannesburg International Airport. Day 1 is spent travelling via the city of Durban up the KZN coastline to Shakaland – home of the Zulu and rich in traditional Zulu culture.  Day 2 you bus to Itala Game Reserve taking in some clonal hardwood plantations en route. Day 3 you stay over in Swaziland and look at the Usutu Forest which is a productive and intensively managed softwood plantation growing fibre for a Kraft  Pulp Mill. Day 4 is spent in Kruger Park touring the reserve and Day 5 is spent visiting the pine and eucalpt plantations in the Mpumalanga eastern escarpment area.                                             

Excursions: The excursions run from 09h00 to 17h30 and include lunch. Forestry Tour will take you to the nurseries and mills in the Natal Midlands depending on the demand. The Durban Tour will take you via the Valley of a Thousand Hills to Durban where you will tour the Indian Market, the Umgeni Bird Park and see the historic sites of the city.

The Midlands Meander takes you into the heart of the scenic and quaint arts and crafts route of KZN Natal including pottery, glass. leather and bronze sculptures, fine arts and hand embroidered items to name a few.

ü      Overland tours all include guiding, vehicle costs and accommodation on a breakfast and dinner basis. 

ü      Hotels are quality middle class and quality chalets with good restaurant facilities.

ü      Qualified, registered and experienced guides are used throughout.

ü      Included is the internal flight from Johannesburg to Durban.
