The Student Logging Training Program has a multifaceted set of goals. These include:
- Training and teaching
- Conduct workshops and class demonstrations
- Promote Forest Engineering and harvest operations to the public
- Demonstrating safe work practices
- Assist Research Forest staff by:
- Managing young stands with skyline cable thinning
- Salvaging small pockets of blow down
- Clearing roads
- Removing hazard
