On Febuary 27 we visited some Starker forest land just off of HWY 34, between Corvallis and Alsea. He helped a couple hundred local kids, from school groups to scouting groups, plant Douglas-fir seedings in a recent harvest unit. The day begins by getting the kids into smaller groups, sending them through a brief "How to Plant a Tree" school, put on by the local high school students, and then sending them out to plant their 10 trees each. It was once again a huge success, and eveeryone had a great day, especially since the weather was beautiful this year!
