This looks very maple-y to me.

Greetings group

I accidentally stumbled into another little mystery recently.=20
"Chinese maple" flooring imported to the US.=20

Does anybody out there have any idea what this stuff actually is?
A single wood species? A select group of species? A random group of =
species?
Is the wood actually from Chinese forests, or some other country of =
origin?
Is it really a maple, or just another wood(s) marketed as "maple" for =
the North American market?
Is it being sold in Europe too? Same market name? A different market =
name?=20

Acer ginnala, (Amur maple) was suggested as one possible wood, but I =
cannot find any anatomy info or useful photos for any Chinese maples or =
birches, in a language I can read, or at least decipher.=20
And I cannot find any actual known wood specimens to compare to.=20
Some confusing anatomic features observed in the one piece of flooring =
that a peer has examined.=20

I just keep finding more questions, but no answers.
An clues or guidance from the group would be very helpful.
Thank you=20
