IUFRO is having an All-Division 5 (Forest Products) meeting in Portugal in =
July 2012 and they are now calling for abstracts. IAWA is co-sponsoring a =
number of the sessions. I want to strongly encourage people to consider su=
bmitting an abstract and attending. Among the proposed sessions that are b=
eing talked about are Early screening for wood quality; Wood and bark varia=
bility in relation to physiology, genetics and environment; Impacts of wood=
and bark variability on processing and utilization; Wood quality of planta=
tions; sessions on non-destructive sampling, on wood quality of poplars and=
willows, and some invited talks on Wood quality from complex stand structu=
res; and on Wood variability: it=1B$B!G=1B(Bs patterns, detection, and con=
trol. Note that research with cork would also be of great interest.

nnouncement. Let me know if you have questions; I can direct them to approp=
