Hi Larry

We have an ancient Reichert sledge microtome. We have a disposable knif=
e
holder and use Feather S35 blades. We have also experimented with knive=
s
from CL Sturkey Inc some of which are good for really hard wood species=
 but
not so good for pine which is 99% of our work. I believe we also bought=
 the
knife holder from Sturkey as well. Feather blades should be available f=
rom
your local consumables supplier. (eg.

Greetings

I'm trying to find disposable microtome knives and holder to work
with our antique sliding microtome, but the available selection seems
to be large, and confusing, and expensive if I guess incorrectly.
Somebody out there must have done this already. Any suggestions as to
what has worked or not worked? Anybody have a set up that works for
wood sections that I could attempt to duplicate? Items readily
available from US supplier are preferred. Just makes purchasing that
much easier.

I think the reusable knives I have are "C" style.
Microtome was made by Spencer Lens Co., with just a thumbscrew clamp
to hold the knife and holder in place.

All suggestions and leads appreciated.
