Dear IAWA Forum Members,=20
=20
We are pleased to let you know that our IAWA website is now offering =
free access to some of the older papers published in IAWA Journal and =
IAWA Bulletin n.s. Feel free to have a look at the website and to try it =
out: www.iawa-website.org <http://www.iawa-website.org/> (click on =
"Browse IAWA J").=20
=20
Please note that some issues and volumes are still missing. We will be =
working over the next months to fill in gaps. So far, we have gone back =
as far as 1984. This work would not have been possible withouth the help =
of Elisabeth Wheeler who allowed some of her students to dissect her =
personal copies of IAWA J and IAWA Bulletin. So far, all the scanning =
work and creation of pdf's has been done by Elisabeth's students. We are =
also grateful to Emmy van Nieuwkoop for preparing all the pdf copies of =
recent IAWA J papers.=20
=20
The editorial team of IAWA believes that free access to older IAWA J and =
IAWA Bulletin papers is important to promote wood anatomical research =
wordlwide and we hope that such initiative will encourage anyone =
interested in the structure of wood to become a member of IAWA. Access =
to full papers published over the last 2 years will only be available to =
paying IAWA members. If you have not renewed your IAWA membership for =
2009, please do so. Your membership is very important to our =
association.
=20
If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact either Frederic =
Lens (frederic.lens@bio.kuleuven.be =
<mailto:frederic.lens@bio.kuleuven.be> ), who has kindly agreed to =
assist me with running the IAWA website, or myself (s.jansen@kew.org =
<mailto:s.jansen@kew.org> ). Also, please feel free to pass this email =
around to your librarians or colleagues who might be interested in =
browsing old IAWA J and IAWA Bulletin papers.=20
=20
=20
Very best wishes for 2009.
