Studying the structure of shipwreck oak wood timbers (European oak), I =
have two questions, where I have been unable to find information:
1. Occurrence of tension wood. Does it occur only in branch wood or may =
it occur also in stem wood? Rare or frequent?
2. In some samples we observe starch grains quite frequently in the =
heartwood. Is this a typical feature of oak?
