Dear Forum,
I have what may be considered a naive question, but here it goes anyway. What is the best
combination of price/brand/quality for a sledge microtome? I was looking at some of the
models available (such as the Leica SM2400, http://www.hbu.de/Products/sm2400.htm), and
their price is *very* high (around $14,000, and my budget is about half of that at the
most).
The microtome would be used for wood anatomy/dendroclimate studies, primarily on conifers
from the Western US, but possibly on shrubs and hardwoods as well. Based on the experience
that the experts (you) have, what would you recommend?
Thanks for your time,
Franco
