Dear Barbara, Here below is a message that I would like to be posted to the IAWA Forum. Thanks a lot for your help. Sincerely yours, Philippe Gerrienne ------------------------------------ Dear Members, At Liege University we are currently working on Tertiary fuzinized wood specimens. Often we face difficulties when identifying cross-field pitting types of charred conifer wood. Sometimes, other features such as bordered pits or bars of perforation plates seem to have been altered by the charcoalification. Is somebody aware of experimental research on this subject? Could somebody advise us about papers that describe and discuss the changes that occur in charred secondary xylem? Thanks a lot - All the best, Philippe Gerrienne Dr. Philippe Gerrienne FNRS Research Associate Palaeobotany - Liege University Allée du 6 Août, Sart Tilman (B18) B-4000 LIEGE 1 BELGIUM Tél.: 00 32 (0)4 366 53 63 Fax: 00 32 (0)4 366 53 38
