Dear Candace For stuck borers have a look on this article. Yamaguchi, D.K. 1991 Mechanical devices for extracting stuck increment borers., Canadian Journal of Forest Research 21: 712-714 Also, consider using 2-thread borer for hard trees. My memories tell me that Haglof handles 2-thread borers. Usually borers with less threads are easier to extract from a tree. This might prevent you from being bored from a borer that is stuck in a tree.
