Post Diagram Example

Specific plants can be located quickly and easily. As shown on the map, the square grid system has letters running east-west and numbers running north-south. Orange-tipped posts mark the line intersec- tions. The marking system on these posts is explained below: The post diagrammed at the right has the H squares to the west and G squares to the east. Therefore, H is marked on the east side of the post and G on the east side Similarly, the post has 7 to the north and 6 to the south. Each square is subdivided into 4 quadrants (as shown below): north, south, east, and west. A plant in the north quadrant of this square would be indexed G6n.
