SNR 511: Sustainable Natural Resource Development (1 credit)
Instructors: Denise Lach and Steve Radosevich
Timeframe: 4 two-hour sessions and portions of a three-day field trip.

Course Description

Using readings, class discussion, and a field trip to several local forests, we will introduce the Certificate Program sessions and pedagogical methods, familiarize students with basic working definitions of sustainability, and build capacity to work on both a group and individual projects. The assignments are designed to help students frame the questions they wish to pursue in their own individual project.

  1. Create working definition of sustainable forestry
  2. Identify faculty mentor and information sources for individual project, and draft sustainability questions to be pursued in case study.
  3. Develop case study outline.
